Recently, Microsoft announced the end of support for Windows 10, which has understandably raised concerns among businesses operating POS systems connected to the internet.

“Will our POS system stop receiving security updates?”
“Do we need to upgrade to Windows 11 immediately?”
Here’s the important clarification.
The October 2025 End of Support Does NOT Apply to MEGAPOS Systems
The widely publicised October 2025 end-of-support date applies only to consumer editions of Windows 10, such as:
- Windows 10 Home
- Windows 10 Pro
MEGAPOS systems do not run on these versions.
Our systems operate on Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2019, which is a specialised long-term enterprise edition designed specifically for:

What Is Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC?

9 January 2029
✔ Microsoft will continue providing

This means there is no immediate need to migrate to Windows 11.
Why You May See “End of Support” Messages
Some users may notice an “end of support” notification inside Windows Update settings.
This occurs due to a known messaging issue where the system references the consumer Windows lifecycle. It does not reflect the extended support policy for IoT LTSC editions.
Your MEGAPOS system remains within Microsoft's supported lifecycle.
Is an Upgrade Required?
Upgrading is optional, not mandatory.
As long as your system remains stable and operational, there is no requirement to upgrade before 2029.
Should you choose to upgrade in the future:
- A Windows license upgrade fee will apply
- Service man-hour charges may apply
However, there is no urgency at this time.
