Healthier Ingredient Promotion Scheme
Health Promotion Board recently introduced Healthier Ingredient Promotion Scheme (HIPS) to encourage food manufacturers to develop healthier ingredients, such as wholegrain noodles and rice, lower-sugar ingredients. This scheme covers the Marketing & Publicity, Trade Promotion, and Ingredient Thematic Promotion.
This is an addition to the Healthier Dining Programme (HDP) introduced in 2014. This programme encourages “the outlets offer consumers healthier options, such as lower-calorie meals, food prepared with healthier ingredients and reduced-sugar beverages.”
Singaporean are becoming more health conscious, especially with their change in dietary preferences. Companies in the Food & Beverage industry should follow this trend to keep themselves competitive. For example, introduce healthier choice menus with organic, healthier ingredients, or using healthier cooking style when preparing food.
